Our Sustainable Circular Approach
At Jade Chrysanthe Atelier, sustainability isn’t just a practice. It’s a mindset.
Every decision, from the fabrics we choose to how a garment is sewn and delivered, is made with deep care for the earth, for culture, and for spirit. Our slow-fashion approach honors tradition, embraces circularity, and leaves space for creativity without waste.
How We Create: Made-to-Order
All garments are made-to-order and handcrafted by Jade Chrysanthe, the brand’s founder and designer. We create only after a piece is purchased, allowing us to:
Prevent overproduction and stockpiling
Keep waste minimal
Focus on quality and soulful intention
Each piece is sewn with care, rooted in love, and sent with protection. Occasionally, we may enlist a trusted freelance seamstress to assist, but every design still carries the energy and vision of Jade Chrysanthe.
We may sometimes have ready-made pieces available, especially for pop-ups or from returns but even these are created with the same intentional craftsmanship and spirit-led energy.
Thoughtful Materials
We work with a mix of deadstock, natural fibers, and thrifted or remnant fabrics, all consciously sourced:
Deadstock Fabrics: These are surplus materials from other designers or manufacturers that would otherwise end up as waste. We give them a second life, creating unique, limited-edition pieces that reduce the need for new production and overconsumption.
Natural Fiber Fabrics: We work with natural, biodegradable fibers like cotton and linen—materials that breathe with you and with the earth. All original Madras textiles, a signature of our brand’s cultural heritage, are cotton-based, staying true to their historic and ancestral roots.
Whenever possible, we also integrate natural dyes made from herbs and plants. These are not only a celebration of nature’s palette, but an energetic communication between us and them, connecting culturally and physically. The result is fabric that holds both beauty and resonance, connecting you to the land, the ancestors, and your own inner rhythm.
Thrifted, Donated & Remnant Textiles: We may overtime introduce materials that already carry history. Whether it’s a vintage fabric, a leftover cut, or a donated piece, we allow its uniqueness to shape the garment it becomes.
Custom Prints with CONTRADO: Our custom-designed prints are brought to life by Contrado, a UK-based sustainable printing company. They offer a wide variety of ethically sourced fabrics and are committed to low-waste, small-batch production. By collaborating with Contrado, we ensure our printed textiles are produced with care, responsibility, and minimal environmental impact all while supporting local industry.
We don’t chase trends, we let fabric guide the design. This circular approach honors resources already in existence, while giving us the freedom to create with integrity.
Closing the Loop/ Take-Back Initiative
To truly close the loop, we offer a Take-Back Initiative a conscious way to give your garment a second life. This service is available once your piece has been in your care for at least two months. Any requests made within a shorter timeframe will not be considered, as we encourage mindful ownership and a deeper relationship with what you wear.
To access this programme, please keep your email receipt as proof of purchase. When you're ready, simply contact us through our Contact Form, and we’ll guide you through the next steps—whether it’s upcycling, reselling, or transforming your garment into something new.
In exchange, you will receive store credit toward future purchases. At Jade Chrysanthe Atelier, we honour the flow of energy in all things—we do not take without giving, and we do not give without intention. Every exchange is rooted in reciprocity, care, and mutual respect.
Shipping/Packaging
-
All of our packaging is sourced locally in London, with care and sustainability in mind. We work with the Tiny Box Company, a trusted supplier of eco-conscious materials, to minimize waste and encourage reuse.
We currently use:
100% Compostable Mailing Bags made from cornstarch — TÜV OK Compost Home certified and EN 13432 compliant (safe for home composting).
Kraft Paper Postal Bags — recyclable, strong, and easy to reuse.
Recycled Kraft Tissue Paper — used especially for spiritual tools and made to be reused or recycled.
We intentionally avoid over-packaging to reduce waste and make transportation more efficient.
-
We ship using local providers such as Royal Mail and DPD for both UK and international orders. However, depending on your location and current availability, we may use other local carriers as needed.
We choose what is accessible and local to us in the moment, aligning with our intention to minimize environmental impact.
Once your order has been processed and dispatched, you'll receive a tracking notification via email.

Sustainability guides every aspect of our practice—from sourcing and materials to the way we ship. By choosing locally sourced packaging and limiting excess, we aim to reduce our footprint while maintaining care and intention in every order.
While we can't promise perfection, we promise transparency and effort. Thank you for walking this path with us.

Can we be 100% sustainable?
This is a question asked often—within the industry and beyond. Can any brand or individual truly be 100% sustainable?
From a design and production perspective, we believe the honest answer is no—and this is the transparency we offer you.
To claim full sustainability would mean that every material, process, and action is entirely free from emissions, waste, toxicity, and environmental harm. In the current state of global systems, infrastructure, and supply chains, that level of perfection is not yet attainable. What is possible—and deeply important—is a conscious commitment to reducing harm, making responsible choices, and continuously evolving.
Sustainability is not an individual performance. It is a collective responsibility. If 10 out of 1,000 live sustainably, we are only partially sustainable as a whole. Real change requires more than a few ethical choices—it demands a cultural and systemic shift.
Our brand is rooted in sustainability and ethics, but we do not present ourselves as flawless. This is a small, independent operation, held by one individual who is doing their best—with intention, care, and continuous learning. There may be mistakes, lessons, and imperfections along the way—and we embrace that as part of the journey.
Part of our sustainability practice includes:
Using what’s already available — repurposing, reusing, and sourcing with care
Keeping production small and intentional
Being transparent about our limitations and choices
We offer what we can with sincerity, and we thank you for meeting us in that place of mutual respect and understanding.
Sustainability isn’t about perfection—it’s about conscious, consistent effort.
And we’re honoured to walk that path with you.
